About

Illustrious Herbal Wellness is the creation of Abbie Gross, a holistic natural foods chef, herbalist and Postpartum Doula. To be illustrious in our lives, or shine brightly, the plants offer us such gifts.  Cooking professionally for over 12 years, Abbie enjoys being able to help clients achieve their specific health goals through the preparation of nutritious meals, which express her whole food philosophy. The road to her interest in herbal medicine began with utilizing plants for natural dye. She began to see that the plant world around her held so many secrets and magic within. It was from this deep curiosity that the path of herbal medicine began to unfold. Guided through her studies with her mentor Mischa Schuler of Wild Carrot Herbs, Abbie seeks to help others find support from plant allies.

Abbie lives in Yarmouth, Maine with her husband Mike, daughter Naomi, and mini schnauzer Arnie. Besides her love of cooking, gardening and all things plant related, Abbie is an avid runner, having completed eight marathons. Daily movement, whether running, yoga or long walks, keep her happy and energized for all that life has to offer.

My Philosophy

I believe eating well doesn't have to be complicated. It is all about using fresh, seasonal ingredients, whole foods and cooking simply, to highlight the flavors.

Being in tune with the natural world around us, opens our senses up to new experiences and welcomes the opportunity to connect with ourselves in a deeper way. I believe the plants can be great allies in support of our health journeys.
